PET-CT based RT Planning
Delivery of radiation therapy combines a physician driven mathematical approach to radiation dose prescription with a physicist driven true 3-D dose calculation and optimization engine. This is coupled with digital linear accelerators with dynamic multileaf collimators that precisely execute the treatment plan, transmitted to them through computer files rather than operator dependent input. Tumor and normal tissue digital data is fed into the inverse treatment planning computers through latest imaging technologies such as integrated PET-CT data files and verified by silicon-detector digital imaging.
